History
Malaysia began around 40000 years ago when Southeast Asia was settled. Around 2000 years ago, parts of this location began to sprout up and formed separate kingdoms. For the time being, Malaysia was independent. However in 1509, Portuguese pirates invaded the port city of Malaka and took it. They continued further into the country and took a decent portion. Later in 1641, the Dutch came to colonize Southeast Asia. They kept control until the British came to conquer the area in 1824. Then, in WWII, Japan seized control of the area until they surrendered. Control was given to the Americans who gave Malaysia its independence on August 31st, 1957.
